Former Bullard Fellow Named Director of MBL Ecosystems Center
Christopher Neill, a recent Bullard Fellow and ongoing associate of the Harvard Forest, has been named Director of the Ecosystems Center at the Marine Biological Lab (MBL), a Woods Hole-based organization with a founding connection to the Harvard Forest's Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program. More than 40 years ago, MBL became one of the first scientific organizations to study climate change; today they have climate research experiments set up from Petersham to the poles.
Neill’s 2009-2010 Bullard Fellowship focused on the ecosystem effects of deforestation in the Amazon. Most recently, he brought science journalists to the Forest as a part of MBL's 2012 Logan Science Journalism Program, which highlights LTER global change research and gives journalists a hands-on window into the scientific process.
